Tinker Juarez Withdraws from Race

2007 World 24 Hour Solo Champion, Tinker Juarez withdrew from the 2008 World 24 Hour Solo Championships. Mud from the course impaired Tinker's vision. Medical staff flushed his eye and recommended a cautionary visit to the Canmore Hospital. At the time of the incident, Tinker was leading the Elite men's category.

Just got off the phone with Tinker - he is OK. But he still can't see well. He said it is very blurry and he could not see the course. It is really tough, bumpy, and the rain made it very dangerous, especially without being able to see where to go. Tinker is very disappointed and wishes the rest of the racers a safe and happy event.

Vision and mtb racing? What a novel concept. Unlucky that, Tinker. I ran a stick into my eye orbital last weekend riding in PA. I can empathize...
